In the words of John Dewey, we believe that all education is self-education. The work of the teacher is not that of a higher being instilling sacred knowledge into a passive vessel. Instead, a teacher is one who can help guide the learner by providing assistance and resources.
It is often said amongst professional educators that the teacher does most of the learning in the classroom. This is a sad reality, but it is simply because the teacher does most of the work while the students sit passively waiting for the show to start (or the bell to sound).
So, why do we persist on following the same model of education?
